What is in the pack

How to print certificates

  1. Use heavier paper — 65–110 lb cover stock (175–300 gsm) — or parchment paper for a formal feel.
  2. Print in landscape at 100% scale.
  3. Print one test copy on plain paper to check alignment.
  4. Type names in the Word template, or handwrite them in fine black or gold pen.
  5. Sign in ink, and add an embossed or foil seal sticker for formal certificates.

For many recipients, fill the tracker first, then use your word processor’s mail merge to add names from the spreadsheet.

Certificates of completion vs other credentials

A certificate of completion shows that someone finished a course or activity. It is different from a professional certification, which usually requires passing an assessment set by an accrediting body, and from a diploma or degree awarded by an educational institution. Do not describe a completion certificate as accredited or as a licence unless it truly is. Organisations that issue many certificates should keep a record so they can confirm authenticity if asked.

Who it is for

Trainers, HR teams, teachers, coaches, community groups, course creators, camp leaders and parents. The designs are neutral so they fit any subject.

Formats

Certificate designs are landscape PDFs on US Letter (they print on A4 with “fit to page”); wording templates are editable DOCX; the tracker is XLSX with a PDF copy.

Adding your own branding

To add a logo, open the Word template, insert the image above the title and set its text wrapping to “in front of text” so it can be moved freely. Keep logos modest in size so the recipient’s name remains the focus. Use your organisation’s colours for the title if you want a consistent look, and keep the body text dark for legibility. For certificates that will be emailed rather than printed, export to PDF so fonts and layout stay the same on every device.

Frequently asked questions

What should a certificate of completion say?

The recipient’s name, what they completed, the issuer, the date and a signature; optionally hours, a certificate number and a seal.

What paper should I print certificates on?

Heavy cover stock or parchment paper, around 65–110 lb (175–300 gsm).

Can I edit the certificates?

Yes, the Word templates are fully editable, and the PDFs have blank lines to type or write on.

Is a certificate of completion an accreditation?

No. It shows completion, not accreditation or professional certification.

Was AI used to create the pack?

The designs were generated by script and the wording drafted with AI assistance, then reviewed and formatted before publishing.
